Your Healthcare Data Can Do More

ScienceIO is changing the way healthcare data is managed.

Overview

ScienceIO leverages machine learning to automate data processing and analysis for healthcare organizations. The platform can extract insights from complex datasets, such as electronic health records (EHRs) and medical imaging, to help providers make more informed decisions about patient care. Additionally, ScienceIO's system can improve clinical workflows by automating routine administrative tasks. By using AI to streamline data management, ScienceIO aims to help healthcare providers optimize their operations and provide better patient care.

My Role

At ScienceIO I worked with a small team of talented developers, and illustrators to redesign ScienceIO’s customer facing website. We handed off a new design system, as well as a fully customizable website built with Contentful and Jamstack.

Before redesigning the website I had to understand the brand identity to guide our design decisions.

Building A Design System

After understanding the brand identity through stakeholder interviews I worked to distill the information into color, typography, and scalable components.

The final step was to put the previous work into action and handoff designs to our developers.

Typography

Inter

We landed on Inter for body copy because it was specifically designed for legibility on digital screens. Its modern and versatile design, combined with features such as taller lowercase letters and larger punctuation marks, make it easy to read and ensure that it remains legible on smaller screens.

Merriweather

We landed on Merriweather for headers because its classic design elements offer a high level of readability. Its generous spacing, large x-height, and balanced proportions make it highly legible. The combination of Sans Serif and Serif fonts ties into the brand mission of bringing outdated data management technology into the new era of AI.

Brand Colors

Primary

Blue is a versatile and calming color that can evoke feelings of trust, reliability, and professionalism. It's a popular choice for brands in industries such as finance, healthcare, and technology, as it can convey a sense of security and stability. Blue is also associated with intelligence and wisdom, which can make it a good fit for brands that want to be seen as knowledgeable and authoritative. Overall, the value of a blue brand color lies in its ability to instill trust and convey professionalism, while also being versatile enough to suit a wide range of industries and brand personalities.

Neutral

Neutral colors can be used to create contrast, making key information or calls to action more visible and easier to read. Neutral colors are typically used for text, dividers, and section backgrounds. Overall, the value of neutral colors in web design lies in their versatility, ability to create balance and contrast, and their ability to convey a sense of professionalism and sophistication.

Evaluating The Existing Design

The existing website was minimal, clean, and technology-focused. However, it lacked an overall sense of humanity.

We wanted to blend people and AI by focusing on the value ScienceIO brings to its users and the industry at large.

Reimagining The Outcome

We explored concepts and competitors to distill the value ScienceIO provides both visually and verbally. By incorporating beautiful illustrations representing the connection between patients and their data, users are immediately drawn to learn more.

By incorporating organic shapes and simplifying the color palette we were able to achieve an inviting environment with a human feel. We also added CTA's to increase user conversion by giving them a clearly defined next step.
